Flute
lessons in the Halifax studio tend to
be a little more free form. Due to the
fact that I have had the opportunity to study many different types of flute
music throughout my university degree, your lessons will consist of a large
palette of music genres. I believe that stepping outside of our musical
“box” makes us greater players. We can try anything that you might be
comfortable with – from Jewish Klezmer music to classical Bach or Mozart
sonatas.
Piano lessons typically follow a traditional format. A 75 to 25 ratio of
piano to theory allows each student to learn the notes and keys of the piano
while setting the base of a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of music.
This combination will make you or your child stronger players in the long
term sense. Even if you only wish to take lessons long enough to learn the
notes and rhythms of piano music, your theory background will deepen your
understanding of the music you undertake in the future. This will help you
in whichever form of music you are interested in learning – classical, pop,
jazz, etc.
